I can’t tell you how excited I am about the newest street fashion craze- holograms. I think the only other person more excited about it is 2Pac, seeing as he went so far as to actually reincarnate himself as a hologram during last Sunday’s finale show at Coachella. Other than in the form of deceased rappers, holograms are popping up in loud graphics, leggings and killer jackets. Very Gem and the Holograms and TOTALLY OUTRAGEOUS!
This year was my first Easter away from the fam in the Midwest. Instead, I spent the day with one side of my new, NY family- my floor mates in my new apt building. No, I do not live in a dorm. I actually live in a high-rise off Union Square, but my neighbors rock and it sometimes feels as if we all share a big loft- open door policy and all. Among our crew is a 6 year old, Joelle, who wanted to enter Petco’s Easter Egg-stravaganza. This included a variety of contests and an in-store egg hunt (obvi). For the “Easter Bonnet” costume contest Joelle borrowed Tufani, the papillon down the hall, and created a lavish ensemble (including mini bunny ears) for the pup. She also decorated an Easter dress for herself and wore matching glittery bunny ears. Naturally, Chili was jealous and wanted to join the fun, so he dusted off his seasonal Easter t-shirt and tagged along. After the coloring contest (I won in my self-made category- 13 years old+ thank you very much) the crew pranced in front of the judges and managed to win 1st place (see giant grand prize basket above)! Running on the high of 2 total wins, the group then went egg hunting, collecting even more prizes for Chili and Tufani.
Even though I observed Easter on a Saturday and in a somewhat unconventional way, Chili and I had a wonderful time. It was a nice change of pace to celebrate Easter like a kid again. Chili even got to see an Easter Bunny… well, a rescue bunny up for adoption at Petco. As a rescue himself, I think Chili appreciated the charitable mascot this year.
